Originating from Jersey City, NJ, just across the river from the bustling streets of New York City, I found my first inspiration in the vibrant energy of Hip Hop culture. Since 1983, this dynamic world of expression has been a pivotal part of my life. My journey into the arts began in the early ’80s with graffiti, a formative experience that honed my eye for color, composition, and the essential principles of visual communication.
Over the years, these early lessons in street art evolved into a profound passion for graphic design. As a self-taught professional, I leveraged my unique perspective and skills to establish Jonathan Haley Design more than two decades ago. Specializing in identity, packaging, and apparel design, I have mastered the nuances of visual language, crafting distinctive solutions that resonate on both aesthetic and functional levels.
At Jonathan Haley Design, I not only strive to inspire exceptional visual outcomes but also to cultivate an inclusive and empowering workplace culture. This commitment ensures that each project not only meets but exceeds expectations, propelling brands, design teams and colleagues forward.
A little video I made about my journey here in Portland, Oregon. I originally made this for the Tom Sachs Nike Product Wear Tester contest but I wasn't selected. It was a great exercise in storytelling and getting more familiar with Adobe Premiere Rush.

Probably the oldest person to appear on the Nike SNKRS app.
